Program Director/Varsity Head Coach

Coach Frank Phung is the Program Director and Varsity Head Coach of the Girls Flag Football program at Edison High School. He focuses on developing student-athletes through strong fundamentals, leadership, and a competitive team culture.

Under his leadership, the Edison Chargers advanced to Division 1 of the CIF Southern Section, competing at the highest level of high school flag football in Southern California. In their first season at that level, Edison earned a historic win over Newport Harbor and reached the CIF Southern Section quarterfinals.

Coach Phung is also the founder of Beach Flag Football, recognized as a preferred girls flag football club by the Los Angeles Rams and an approved club under USA Football. 

He additionally serves as a coach and scout with USA Football, helping identify and develop elite athletes while supporting the growth of girls flag football nationwide.

Junior Varsity Head Coach

Coach Kyle is a dedicated high school flag football coach with a passion for developing young athletes and building competitive, team-first programs. In the program’s first-ever 2025 freshman (FROSH) season, he led the team to an outstanding 17–2 record and an undefeated league championship. Coach Kyle prides himself on teaching strong fundamentals, fostering leadership, and helping student-athletes grow both on and off the field. 

Frosh Head Coach

Coach David Harrison is a dedicated leader and mentor focused to developing young

athletes on and off the field. He has coaching experience spanning high school,

collegiate, and youth level. Most recently, he served as a coach at the USA Football

Select Bowl 2026 and is a part of Beach Flag Football Club.

Coach Harrison brings experience in quarterback development, offensive strategy, and

speed/agility training. His coaching philosophy extends far beyond wins and losses. He

believes football is a powerful vehicle for developing confident, disciplined, and resilient

young athletes who are prepared to succeed in the classroom, in competition, and

throughout life. By investing in the growth of each player, he builds individuals of

character while creating a competitive, accountable, and team-first culture. His

commitment is to develop athletes who not only perform at a high level on the field but

also become leaders who positively impact their teammates, their community, and their

future.
